It's an accolade that reflects the historic excellence and purist vision of F. E. Trimbach, unquestionably one of the great names of Alsace and a family business that can trace its origins all the way back to 1626.
Thirteen generations later, the Trimbachs of 2014, brothers Bernard and Hubert, plus Bernard's sons, Pierre and Jean, and granddaughter Anne, remain true to the philosophy handed down to them by their 19th century ancestor, Frederic Emile (the man who put the "F.E." into F. E. Trimbach).
Tasting Notes
One of the noblest of the Alsace grapes, Pinot Gris produces a full, heady, rich and lush wine in Trimbach's hands. It is technically dry, but the style is so fruity and full, with such a long palate that the illusion of sweetness is maintained. Watch out too for a smokiness on the finish. Its great depth is balanced by a crisp acidity that gives structure and longevity.
